We’re excited to reopen our kākahu store here in Aotearoa and international.

After a long season of designing, refining and preparing new pieces, our online whare kākahu is ready to welcome everyone back in. We’ve brought together our signature IRAĀIO designs, updated prints and new releases that carry the same mauri, story, and artistry our kaupapa is known for.

Whether you’re looking for hoodies, tees, accessories or pieces connected to your wānanga journey, everything is now available again for our whānau to order directly online. This is the first step as we rebuild our full range for 2026, with more drops arriving soon.

Thank you for your patience and support while the doors were closed.

Our fire is lit again, nau mai, hoki mai.

Thank you both so much for holding  a powerful wānanga. The depth of wairua and mātauranga you carry helped me reconnect with parts of myself I didn’t realise I’d left behind.

Ngā mihi nui e te whānau. The wānanga was exactly what I needed and filled with aroha. Your guidance through karakia, kōrero, and mirimiri helped me so much!

Ngā Pātai Auau - Frequently Asked Questions

Fluency in te reo Māori isn’t required to attend. While knowing the language can deepen your experience, our mahi is shared in both Māori and English to ensure understanding and inclusion. We honour te reo as a living part of the work, and support everyone — whether you’re fluent, just beginning, or somewhere in between. Nau mai haramai.

No.

Our wānanga and healing practices are open to all who come with genuine intent, openness, and respect. While our kaupapa is grounded in mātauranga Māori, the principles of aroha, manaaki, are universal. Mirimiri and our teachings are about remembering who you are — not becoming someone else. You don’t need to be Māori, but you are asked to honour the mahi. If this sounds like you, you’re in the right place.

That’s entirely up to you. Most of our tauira attend 3 to 4 wānanga. Some have continued on and are now into the double digits.

This depends on a few things:

– Is Mirimiri part of your whakapapa?

– Do you carry the tohu-a-ringa?

– Are you a fast learner, and how well do you pick up the style of Mirimiri that suits you?

If you’re after a solid number — I often say aim to work with 100 bodies. But again, this varies depending on your path. Some start working with people straight away.

Please refer to the specific details of the wānanga you’re interested in or attending, as times may vary.

Wānanga dates and times are usually provided for each individual wānanga.
For example, weekday wānanga may run from Monday to Thursday, 10am to 5pm each day.
Weekend formats may look like:
Friday: 6pm – 9pm (Introductions & Karakia)
Saturday & Sunday: 10am – 5pm

Please refer to the specific details of the wānanga you’re interested in or attending, as times may vary.
