Welcome to Pou Tahi - Mirimiri Romiromi
He Kupu Whakataki
Introduction
Tēnā koutou katoa.
Nau mai, haere mai ki Te Pou Tahi o Mirimiri me Romiromi.
Before we begin learning anything practical, we begin by acknowledging where this mātauranga comes from. This knowledge does not belong to one person. It comes through whakapapa, through whānau, through kuia and koroua, and through generations of lived practice.
Pou Tahi is the first pillar. It is the foundation. If the foundation is not sound, everything built on top of it will eventually wobble.
In this pou we are not rushing to techniques. We are learning how to stand correctly in this work: how to enter it with humility, awareness and responsibility.
This wānanga is both practical and spiritual. It asks something of you. Not perfection, not expertise, but honesty. You are invited to bring your full self into this learning: your experiences, your questions, your uncertainties and your willingness to listen and learn.
Take a moment now
Slow your breath. Notice your body, where you are sitting or standing. Notice your thoughts without trying to control them.
This is the beginning of embodied learning. This is Pou Tahi.
Mirimiri & Romiromi Wānanga
It is my honour to share with you the teachings of Papa Hohepa Delamere, as presented by Ruatau Perez, alongside the teachings passed down through Te Awhi Sisseal Henderson (née Hokianga), Makareta Wāmona (née Hokianga), and the wider Hokianga whānau.
Ngā Wāhanga o te Wānanga
The Sections of the Wānanga
Each section opens like water - one at a time.
Wāhanga 01 - Te Whakarite me te Wairua
Personal readiness is not about confidence or qualifications. It is about alignment. Wairua moves first. Mauri responds. Tinana follows.
Wāhanga 02 - Karakia, Tikanga me te Kawa
Karakia are foundational to this work. Safety is created before touch. Breath clears without force.
Wāhanga 03 - Rōrōroro - Manawa - Pū Manawa
Rōrōroro (Consciousness) - He ate i roto i te tinana. Manawa - Kāre e whakaae kaua e mahia (If your heart’s not in it, don’t do it as energy will come through if you feel obligated). Pū Manawa - Ngā āria (Emotions & Feelings - Everything starts here).
Wāhanga 04 - Manawa
Te tino ate, kei te Mirimiri tinana katoa. (Main organ of Mirimiri) Whatever’s going through your heart will manifest through the being. The heart sows or laces the entire being.
Wāhanga 05 - Te Whakapapa o te Ngao
Unai otu ko te ngao - Universal Energy. Pūngao - Energy came out of. Everything has a whakapapa.
Wāhanga 06 - Te Kakī me ngā Pakihiwi
Current stuff in this life occurring in and around us now. Kei runga i te taha o te paemanu (collarbone/bird’s perch).
Wāhanga 07 - Pinati - Ngā Tae - Takutaku
Pineal gland/brain. Third eye, source of all knowledge. O - Te Kore is the biggest number in Te Ao Māori - Limitless Potential.
Wāhanga 08 - He Takutaku Tēnei
Hei pourewa i a koe - incantation balancing the synergy. Nāu e Io Te Rauahi hei-mata ē.
Wāhanga 09 - Te Huritao
Learning does not end when the lesson finishes. In many ways, this is where the real learning begins.
